Alright, let’s talk about the 2024 Emmys, where some serious TV royalty got crowned last night. If you missed it, no worries—I’ve got you covered. This year, Eugene and Dan Levy (yep, the father-son duo from Schitt’s Creek) hosted the show, and they kept things light, funny, and just the right amount of quirky.

Now, the big dog of the night was Shōgun, which straight-up dominated with 18 wins—yeah, you heard that right. It’s the most any show has ever taken home in a single season. It snagged everything from Outstanding Drama Series to Lead Actor and Lead Actress for Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. The show also bagged a bunch of technical awards, like Best Cinematography and Sound Editing. If you haven’t seen it yet, add it to your must-watch list—it’s set in historical Japan, and clearly, it’s got everyone’s attention.

On the comedy side, Jeremy Allen White from The Bear won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The guy's been killing it with his portrayal of a chef dealing with the chaos of running a Chicago sandwich shop, and the Emmys gave him his well-deserved props.

Jodie Foster also made waves by winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role in True Detective: Night Country. If you’ve been sleeping on this show, Foster's award-winning performance should get you to wake up. In her speech, she gave a shout-out to her co-star Kali Reis, and it was a real "thank you, team" moment.

As for the writing side, Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer took home the prize for Outstanding Writing in a Limited Series. Gadd’s speech was pretty powerful, touching on some personal struggles, and if you're into intense, emotionally charged dramas, Baby Reindeer should be next on your binge list.

And finally, a quick shout-out to Will Smith—no, not that Will Smith. This Will Smith won Best Writing for a Drama Series for Slow Horses. He cracked a joke about his name and the infamous Oscars slap, keeping things light and reminding everyone that this Will Smith comes in peace.

All in all, the Emmys had a good mix of big wins, heartfelt moments, and some solid laughs. If you missed the live show, you can stream it on Hulu. Definitely worth checking out if you want to see who else walked away with the gold.
