Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lakithia Nicole moved to Los Angeles, California where she shined alongside some of the industry's greatest talents. She now maintains a residence in Brooklyn, New York, where she has lived for the past four years.
Lakithia's journey into performing began at a young age, accompanying her parents on their traveling ministry. By the age of 8 or 9, she was already captivating audiences with her gospel solos during praise and worship. Even today, her love for gospel music remains strong, with new Christian releases set to debut on August 8th, 2024. When asked about her favorite genre, Lakithia shared, "I'm in such a creative space right now. My creativity is flowing freely. Writing about the goodness of God is a great space for me. I love it here." She added, "I feel like I'm finally where I need to be musically. This is a great time for me. I couldn't be happier as a gospel artist."
When I asked Lakithia which artist she would most like to perform with, she immediately mentioned Koryn Hawthorne, a gospel artist she discovered a few weeks ago and is now completely obsessed with. Lakithia expressed her admiration, saying she is "completely captivated by her sound."
Throughout her career, Lakithia has received one piece of advice repeatedly: believe in yourself and keep going, even in the face of rejection. She emphasizes, "Despite rejection, keep going! I think that's so important. In the entertainment industry, rejection is common, but you can't let that stop you from pursuing your dreams."
Lakithia has had the privilege of working with some incredible names in the industry, but one collaboration that stands out to her is with her icon, Jennifer Lopez, on a Gillette commercial. Jones credits Lopez as a significant influence on her, admiring how she excels in all aspects of entertainment. Lopez continues to inspire Lakithia to this day.
When asked which historical figure she would love to portray, Lakithia enthusiastically responded, "Wow! The beautiful Dorothy Dandridge. But it's already been done, by the equally beautiful Halle Berry." Lakithia has known she wanted to be a performer and entertainer since she was very young.
I asked Lakithia if she had any messages for her fans and followers. She responded with excitement, "We are on a new journey. As I transition into gospel music, get ready to be truly empowered! There's so much more to come! God is up to great things, and I'm taking you all with me!"
