If there’s one thing Lady Gaga knows how to do, it’s command attention. And on March 8, 2025, she did just that—twice! Taking on the dual role of host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Gaga turned the iconic Studio 8H into her personal pop playground, delivering jaw-dropping performances from her latest album, Mayhem, and proving once again that she’s a master of both music and comedy.
A Night of "Mayhem" and Monologues
Right out of the gate, Gaga’s opening monologue set the tone for the night. Instead of shying away from controversy, she leaned in hard, poking fun at herself and her recent Razzie nomination for Joker: Folie à Deux.
"So, apparently, I have great chemistry with Joaquin Phoenix… when you mute the TV!" she joked, flashing that signature mischievous grin.
Self-deprecating humor? Check. Crowd eating it up? Double check.
"Abracadabra" & "Killah"—Pure Pop Sorcery
Of course, what everyone was waiting for were the musical performances, and Gaga DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT.
Draped in a metallic, futuristic catsuit, she launched into "Abracadabra," a pulsating dance-pop banger packed with electronic beats and hypnotic synths that practically set the stage on fire. If you weren’t dancing, you were probably questioning your life choices.
Then came "Killah", a dark, industrial-funk masterpiece co-produced by the one and only Gesaffelstein. Picture 1980s cyberpunk meets Berlin nightclub meets Gaga’s otherworldly energy, and you’ve got a performance that left everyone shook.
At one point, she dramatically fell to her knees, microphone in hand, belting out the chorus with so much intensity that Twitter (sorry, X—ugh) went into full meltdown mode.
Comedy Gaga? We Need More of This.
Beyond the music, Gaga fully embraced the chaos of SNL’s wacky sketches. One standout moment? A parody commercial for waterproof mascara—except the "waterproof" part was clearly a lie. Cue Gaga, sobbing dramatically while mascara streamed down her face.
"Ladies, ever cry so hard your waterproof mascara turns into abstract art? SAME." she said, before delivering a shameless wink at the camera.
And who could forget the Friendly’s restaurant sketch? In it, she played an overly enthusiastic waitress who just couldn’t stop calling every customer “hun.” Picture Jersey diner realness meets Broadway musical energy.
"You ordered a milkshake? You want whipped cream? Hun, let me tell ya somethin’—you gettin’ whipped cream whether you like it or not."
Pure comedy gold.
Gaga’s turn as SNL host and musical guest was nothing short of legendary. The internet exploded with praise, critics had no choice but to stan, and Mayhem solidified itself as the pop album of the year.
